Yes, typically that can be a negotiated term if you have sold your property to a developer as opposed to another farmer who intends to take over the farming operations. If the sale is to a developer, obtaining planning approvals can take a couple of years. During this time, it is beneficial for the Buyer to continue to have the property farmed, for property tax assessment purposes. In most farm deals that we negotiate with developers, a farmer can remain on the property pursuant to an occupancy agreement without the payment of rent to the Buyer developer.
