In Ontario, there are two different Powers of Attorney: a Power of Attorney for Property and a Power of Attorney for Personal Care. A Power of Attorney for Property is a document in which you name a substitute decision-maker that you trust to manage or administer your assets while you are alive, should you be unable to do so yourself. A Power of Attorney for Personal Care is a document in which you name a person or persons to make personal care decisions on your behalf when you are not capable of making those decisions yourself.
